WaterStone Bank Celebrates Douglas S. Gordon’s Induction into WBA Leaders in Banking Excellence

WAUWATOSA, Wis. — September 8, 2025 — WaterStone Bank is proud to celebrate Douglas (Doug) S. Gordon, former CEO and current Board Member, on his induction into the Wisconsin Bankers Association’s (WBA) Leaders in Banking Excellence. Gordon was recognized by WBA on September 5 at a ceremony held at their Madison headquarters.
The Leaders in Banking Excellence honor spotlights exceptional leaders who have made a lasting impact on the banking industry and Wisconsin communities.
“Doug’s leadership had a lasting impact on WaterStone Bank,” said Bill Bruss, current President and CEO of WaterStone Bank. “His vision and steady commitment to community banking positioned us for the success we enjoy today. It’s gratifying to see him recognized with this honor from the WBA.”
Gordon joined WaterStone Bank as President and CEO in 2005 and led the organization for 18 years before retiring in 2023. Under his leadership, the bank achieved significant growth, strengthened its financial performance, and expanded its community involvement – including providing nearly $1 million annually to local nonprofits.
A lifelong advocate for community banking, Gordon also contributed his expertise nationally by serving on Federal Reserve advisory councils in Chicago and Washington D.C. He has been instrumental in mentoring the next generation of banking professionals through his involvement with Marquette University’s Commercial Banking Program and through his work with WBA.
“Doug’s legacy is one of service – to his employees, our customers, and our communities,” said Bruss. “We are proud to carry forward the strong foundation he built.”
