WaterStone Bank is dedicated to giving back to those who have served our country. Through our foundation that serves local nonprofits, we actively support dozens of veteran-focused organizations, ensuring that those who have defended our freedoms receive the care, resources, and opportunities they deserve. Many organizations play a vital role in improving the lives of veterans in our community—here’s an introduction to a few that we collaborate with and take pride in supporting.

Veterans Community Project

Modeling their project on successful communities elsewhere, VCP is developing a village of 40 transitional homes with wraparound services to help homeless veterans in Milwaukee regain stability and dignity. We are proud to have recently secured a grant on VCP’s behalf from the Association of Military Banks (AMBA), which matches our foundation funding to help bring this vital project to life.

Guitars for Vets

Guitars for Vets harnesses the power of music to support veterans coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other service-related challenges. By providing free guitar lessons and instruments, the organization helps veterans find solace, express themselves, and build a supportive community through music.

Wisconsin Veterans Network

Wisconsin Veterans Network acts as a critical resource hub for veterans, connecting them with essential services such as employment assistance, housing support, and mental health resources. This peer-based organization understands the unique challenges veterans face and provides personalized guidance to help them navigate civilian life successfully.

Center for Veteran Issues

The Center for Veterans Issues focuses on providing housing and supportive services to veterans and their families in Milwaukee. CVI connects low-income veteran families to the resources that help them overcome challenges, helping them access medical care, food and other supplies. CVI is in the process of renovating and expanding Vets Place Central, creating improved community space for providing comprehensive services to veterans.

Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative

The Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative is committed to ensuring that no veteran in the Milwaukee area goes without basic necessities. Through its Food Pantry and Furnishings for Heroes programs, the initiative provides food, furniture, and essential household items to veterans transitioning from homelessness into stable housing. By addressing immediate needs, this organization helps veterans regain their independence and dignity.

Our commitment to supporting veterans extends beyond these four organizations. We also donate to numerous other veteran-focused groups in Southeastern Wisconsin. By funding these initiatives, we work to ensure that veterans receive the respect, care, and opportunities they have earned through their service.
