WaterStone Bank Announces Nonprofit Finalists for 100th Anniversary Giving Campaign

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – 4/1/2021 – WaterStone Bank today announced the five nonprofit finalists for its 100th Anniversary Giving Campaign. In no particular order, the nonprofits are: Ignite the Spirit-Milwaukee, One Hope 27, Special Spaces Wisconsin, Tosa Cares, and Unity in Motion Inc.

“We would like to thank all the nominees for the great work they do in our community,” said Doug Gordon, President/CEO of WaterStone Bank. “We look forward to the excitement of the voting for our finalists in April.”

The finalists were selected by the WaterStone Bank Foundation committee based on the over 500 nominations received from the public during the 40-day nomination period. Nominations discussed the personal and community impacts of the nonprofit, as well as how the funds would be used to further the nonprofit’s mission.

Community Voting Period: WaterStone Bank has committed to donating a total of $100,000 split between the five nonprofit finalists. The specific dollar amounts of each donation will be determined by the community voting period, which takes place from April 1 – April 30.

Each day, individuals can vote for one finalist at WaterStone Bank’s website at wsbonline.com. Voting totals at the end of day on April 30 will determine the final donation amounts: 1st place: $30,000; 2nd place: $25,000; 3rd place: $20,000; 4th place: $15,000; 5th place: $10,000.

Honorable Mention Donations: Due to the large number of compelling nominations, WaterStone Bank will be awarding 10 “honorable mention” donations of $1,000 to the following organizations: Amani Community Center Food Pantry, American Heart Association of Greater Milwaukee, Balance, Blue Lotus Farm & Retreat Center, Camp Hometown Heroes, The Friendship Circle, MATC FAST Fund, Milwaukee Jewish Day School/Repairing Together Program, Redeem and Restore Center, and St. Francis Children’s Center.

The bank’s 100th Anniversary Giving Campaign will conclude in May after final donations are awarded to the five nonprofit finalists.
